If you are a bit too fond of the Christmas spirits in the plum pudding, Scrooge and Cratchit (aka Andy and Alex) dish up a timely warning of Christmas future in our over-indulgence edition. On the menu for this blowout: Dixie Chicken, Pumpkin Soup and Molasses and Stone(is that right?). There will also be a hefty serving of singer-songwriters with nothing to do but hang out in cafes being "inspired" by waitresses. And sparing a thought for the poor hospitality staff dreaming of the new year - we'll play the Barman's Blues just for you!
Bah Humbug - ooh! don't mind if I do - commencing 19 December 1pm.

Battle of the sexes
One of the creepier things about being same-sex attracted is the line that you cross when you fail to see the beauty in the opposite gender.
But regardless, we are putting our big tackety boots on, jumping that PC line and stomping around!
Cos it's ON - the Battle of the Sexes is here. In the ladies corner, Lisa is spinning her fave song-smiths from the fairer sex. Alex will be trailing his knuckles along the ground, spruiking the best singer-songwriters that the Y chromosome has to offer.
Check out Three Chords and the Truth 1pm to check out the Girls v Boys match to the death. Who'll get your vote on the day?

But you will hear sone surprising and groovy stuff - if you listen - be there.

Into the Tardis, back to the 80s
What would Three Chords and the Truth have sounded like 25 years ago? Top notch my friend!
June 2010, Choose Joy, and vote for independent, community radio for a queer audience. To celebrate Radiothon, we are are going back to the future in our flying Lamborghini - praying in The Church, supping with The Waterboys and watching out for The Stranglers. We'll send Hunters and Collectors into the Kate Bush after a Big Pig, and hole up in a Crowded House or maybe a Nick Cave.
Expect everything Tracy Chapman but the Indigo girl.
Choose Joy. Vote often, donate now.

Sing-a-long-a-Three Chords & the Truth
Who’s for a knees up and a bit of a sing song? Alex and Andy are going: end of the night disco, once round the camp fire, and all the way up the highway, for a show of songs everyone knows the words to. I’m thinking KD vrs Missy, Bette Midler meets Don McLean and up on to the tables to throw our arms around Mark Seymour.
So take me home country roads – I better be home soon.
It’s Radi-oke mikes out - plug them in 1pm Sunday to Joy 94.9

about producing this show ...
We are surfing away, just like you, to find great artists and keep track of the artists getting us a little hot under the collar... So what are we looking at for Three Chords and the Truth coming up ....? Check out the new Myspace links on the blog, and hear tracks before we even get them on the show. Alex
The Young and the Old
For our first hour, we are going the last 12 months and the last century: putting the roots of the Roots side by side with the latest flash in the pan. Representing Gen Y will be the lovely Jade, while Alex will sit in the corner of Gen 'Can't remember Y'.
In case of any confusion, let me make it clear: this theme is young and old music NOT young and old people. I am in my middle-age not my dot-age, thank you muchly. And I was young once ... Alex

HOUR of POWER
This Sunday 16 May. 1pm-3pm. Hosts are Lauren & Andy. Theme for first hour is THE HOUR OF POWER meaning lots of Gospel, a little full-throttle Blues, and other stuff to shock you out of a Sunday reverie. Be there.
Bet you never heard this before …
How many hundreds of thousands of songs have been written and recorded, and how many do we ever get to hear?
This week our theme in the first hour is ‘Hidden gems’ and Sonya and Alex will do their best to outdo each other to bring you random, obscure and just plain unUUUUsual. The smellivision version would feature damp record covers and the crackle of old recordings, as well as the touch and taste of the latest digital tracks, so fresh off the server the artists haven’t head them back yet (as if there were any such a thing).
So if you are BORED BORED BORED (did I mention bored?) of commercial radio, tune in to Three Chords and the Truth Sunday 9 May 1-3pm.

O Canada
Put snow shoes on your feet, a Maple Leaf baseball cap on your head, and something strangely french in the middle... This week the theme for the first hour is CANADA. 3 Chords & the Truth. Presented this week by Maureen & Andy.
It takes two
Person 1: I've had the time of my life. You're the one that I want. Don't go breaking my heart.
Person 2: You don't bring me flowers. Candy.
Person 1: Baby it's cold outside. Don't give up. I've got you babe.
Person 2: Stop dragging my heart around. Where the wild roses grow.
Person 1: I knew you were waiting for me.
Person 2: Too much, too little, too late. No more tears.
Person 1: You've lost that loving feeling. One is the loneliest number.
Sounds of silence...
DUETS can say so much and are the focus of the first hour of 3 Chords & the Truth this Sunday 25 April (from 1pm on Joy 94.9) - though some of the songs above we wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. See you then. Andy Mack and Luscious Lauren will be hosting.

Is Strummy la la for you?
Strummy la la is not the musical format for a boxer to tell their story of reaching the world title fight. Do not strobe light an indie folk singer. The Brandenburg concerto have never featured a Strummy la la program.
But it is the core of Three Chords and the Truth and we’ve got the strummiest chick in la la town, Ms Jade Gulliver, joining Alex Sunday 1pm to explore just what a girl and her guitar can do. What better way to wake up on a lazy Sunday avo?

Groovy blues
You don't need to smoke cigars and wear a fedora to know all about the blues and use it to inspire your music. We're throwing away the script and going groovy with our blues on Sunday; groovy, rocking, melancholy, funky and poetic. Join Andy and Alex, 1pm Sunday 11 April because if you aint had the blues, you don't know Joy.
Slap on your chaps ...
... it's country hour on Three Chords and the Truth. Get ready for Andy and Sonya presenting a show of country music that is guaranteed yodel-free. There was a very good reason Alternative Country was invented - to take the cringe out of country. Tune in as Three Chords and the Truth celebrates song-writing benchmarks such as the eradication of wife beating, and 45% less mangy dogs per song and 33% less big hair in the industry PGW(post Gillian Welch).
Going under the covers and singing with siblings ...
... are the themes of the next 2 editions of Three Chords and the Truth. Wendy and Andy will be playing artists doing covers because ... well I'm guessing originality was a bit too hard that day maybe? The thing about covers is it's only great songs that get that treatment, and if they put them out there, an artist is pretty much saying they believe they are adding something to them in their cover. But do you agree?
To round out March, Alex and Andy will be in the family way ... sharing the harmonies, interwoven artistic sensibilities and subtle undercurrents that siblings singing together offer. So check out the Avett's and Finns and McGarrigle's and Wainwrights and many many more, on Three Chords and the Truth.

what's next?
we're going a little bit kiwi and focussing on my personal favourite subject - men! tune in to Andy & Sonya and Kaz & Alex as we storm in to March. Alex
